You Can Change a Life Today (Part 3)
You’ve heard the story—government hospitals stretched beyond capacity, private hospitals too expensive for most, and mission hospitals doing everything they can with limited resources. Our physicians volunteer their time day in and day out, providing care without taking a salary—because if the hospital had to pay for doctors, its doors would have closed long ago.
One of our plastic surgeons, Dr. Niles Batdorf, rounding on one of his patients post-op.
But the care we provide isn’t just about having qualified doctors. Our physicians need the tools to diagnose, the medicines to treat, and the resources to sustain care. Too often, due to lack of government funding, our hospital struggles to stock essential medications, purchase life-saving equipment, or even keep the lights on. At times, our operating account has been as low as $400.
Yet, change is possible—and it starts with the generosity of people just like you.
When you become a monthly supporter, you help sustain a hospital that stands in the gap for the most vulnerable, ensuring no patient is turned away due to cost.
Your donation doesn’t get lost in layers of administration—it goes straight to where it’s needed most and managed carefully with oversight and accountability. Here’s how your generosity made a direct impact last year:
Here is baby Liam on his day on discharge! He arrived in septic shock and was treating with several days of IV epinephrine. He made a miraculous turnaround!
Thanks to our donors, over 27 patients received life-saving care despite having no ability to pay. Their support not only changed lives but also kept the hospital running when government funds fell short, ensuring we can continue serving those in need.
Our RHD program screens kids at local schools. Pictured above is Kapsowar’s local primary school.
Thanks to our donors, we were able to hire a new Community Health Director to lead vital public health programs, like our Rheumatic Heart Screening. By identifying this life-threatening disease early, we can provide treatment that prevents permanent heart damage—giving children in our community a healthier future.
One of our Newborn Unit nurses with our new pumps for a baby who was critically ill.
Thanks to our donors, we were able to purchase syringe pumps and TPN (IV nutrition), giving critically ill babies the nutrition they need to survive when they’re too sick to eat. These life-saving tools ensure that newborns facing serious medical challenges have a fighting chance to heal and grow.
These aren’t just numbers; they represent real people whose lives have been changed because someone chose to respond to a need.
It’s no exaggeration to say that without outside support, the hospital would not be able to keep its doors open. With greater support, we can go beyond merely getting by and improve our facilities, hire vital staff, and provide specialty, critical medication when needed.
If you’ve ever wished the world was different, this is your chance to make it so. You don’t have to be a doctor to save lives—you just have to care enough to act.
